Whole Wheat Sesame Seed Cookies

This recipe is a modification from my original recipe in the attempt to make them a little healthier. They turned out great and will make them this way from now on unless I am making them for my aunt who probably prefers them the traditional way.

1 c
evaporated cane crystals or white sugar
1 Tbsp
anise extract
1 Tbsp
vanilla extract
1 dash(es)
of salt
5 Tbsp
ground anise seed
2 Tbsp
baking powder
6 c
whole wheat flour, i used freshly ground
6 large
1 c
melted butter
1/2 c
sesame seeds

How to Make Whole Wheat Sesame Seed Cookies


  • 1Combine all ingredients, flour last
  • 2Let sit for 15 minutes
  • 3Scoop ice cream scoopfuls onto cookie sheets or form into rings (which is the traditional way)
  • 4Dip the top into sesame seeds
  • 5Place onto greased cookie sheet.
  • 6Bake at 350’ until barely golden on bottom, do not over bake
