Whole Wheat Sesame Seed Cookies

This recipe is a modification from my original recipe in the attempt to make them a little healthier. They turned out great and will make them this way from now on unless I am making them for my aunt who probably prefers them the traditional way.

1 c
evaporated cane crystals or white sugar
1 Tbsp
anise extract
1 Tbsp
vanilla extract
1 dash(es)
of salt
5 Tbsp
ground anise seed
2 Tbsp
baking powder
6 c
whole wheat flour, i used freshly ground
6 large
1 c
melted butter
1/2 c
sesame seeds


1Combine all ingredients, flour last
2Let sit for 15 minutes
3Scoop ice cream scoopfuls onto cookie sheets or form into rings (which is the traditional way)
4Dip the top into sesame seeds
5Place onto greased cookie sheet.
6Bake at 350’ until barely golden on bottom, do not over bake
