Mom got this recipe off of the Wheatena box "way back when." You can still find Wheatena in some stores. But may be hard to find. Good Luck.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening (mom says butter or margarine works well too)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup uncooked wheatena

How To Make wheatena cookies

  • Step 1
    Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg (beaten well), milk, and vanilla.
  • Step 2
    Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Add Wheatena. Mix.
  • Step 3
    Combine the two mixtures.
  • Step 4
    Drop by the spoonful onto your cookie sheet (I use aluminum foil). Bake at 375 degrees for 13-15 minutes.
