Anyone that knows me will tell you that I'm a savory cook not a baker. I must say, after baking these cookies and tasting them, I must start baking more often. With the addition of cayenne pepper, these cookies will for sure warm your heart and soul. I want to thank Diane M. for my inspiration. Cooking with Passion, sw:)

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips, divided
  • 1 cup english toffee bits, divided
  • 1 cup cinnamon chips, divided
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup lard
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup eggnog
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 teaspoons cayenne pepper**not an option, lol**
  • 1 teaspoon salt

How To Make warm your heart & soul cookies

  • Step 1
    preheat oven to 325 degrees, in a mixing bowl, cream sugar and lard until light. add eggnog, vanilla and eggs. beat at medium speed with a mixer or by hand until smooth.
  • Step 2
    in a separate mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cayenne pepper. add flour mixture to the wet ingredients above and mix until combined. melt half of the toffee bits, cinnamon chips and chocolate chips in a microwavable dish for 20 seconds. stir and repeat until melted.
  • Step 3
    fold in remaining toffee bits, chocolate chips, cinnamon chips and walnuts
  • Step 4
    drop heaping rounded teaspoons of cookie dough onto greased baking sheets or silicon baking pad. bake about 10 minutes or until set.
  • Step 5
    cool on a baking rack.
