Ultimate mini M&M cookies

Saved this recipe from a magazine from 1997. Made it with my granddaughter for the first time today, 16 years later. I usually take 3 or 4 recipes and make one to my family's taste, but I this one will stand "as is".

Makes about 3 dozen


  • 1 c
    (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 large
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp
  • 1 c
    m&m mini baking bits
  • 3/4 c
    chopped nuts (optional)

How to Make Ultimate mini M&M cookies


  1. Preheat oven to 350F. In large bowl cream butter and sugars till light and fluffy; beat in egg and vanilla.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt; blend into creamed mix. Stir in M&M's and nuts.
  3. Drop by heaping tablespoonful about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake 10-13 minutes, or until edges are lightly brown and centers are still soft. Do not over bake.
  5. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; cool completely on wire racks. Store in tightly covered container
