ultimate mini m&m cookies
Saved this recipe from a magazine from 1997. Made it with my granddaughter for the first time today, 16 years later. I usually take 3 or 4 recipes and make one to my family's taste, but I this one will stand "as is".

Makes about 3 dozen
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup m&m mini baking bits
- 3/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Step 1Preheat oven to 350F. In large bowl cream butter and sugars till light and fluffy; beat in egg and vanilla.

Step 2In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt; blend into creamed mix. Stir in M&M's and nuts.

Step 3Drop by heaping tablespoonful about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Step 4Bake 10-13 minutes, or until edges are lightly brown and centers are still soft. Do not over bake.

Step 5Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; cool completely on wire racks. Store in tightly covered container
