Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp
    granulated sugar
  • 6 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    chopped nuts
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips

How to Make Tollhouse Squares

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. Beat butter, sugars, vanilla and water until creamy.
  3. Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
  4. Add to creamed mixture.
  5. Stir in nuts.
  6. Spread batter in 8" square pan.
  7. Sprinkle with chocolate.
  8. Bake in 375 oven for 1 minute.
  9. Remove pan.
  10. Run knife through top for marbled effect, bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until cake tester inserted inside comes out clean.
