Ingredients
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 cup shortening butter flavor
- 3 large eggs, separated
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 3 cups walnut chopped and toasted
- 1/2 cup any flavor jam

Step 1Preheat the oven at 350F, grease a large cookie sheet. Beat the sugar and shortening at medium speed for 2 minutes, add the yolks, water, vanilla and salt beat to combine, add flour at low speed until well blended.

Step 2In a bowl beat the egg whites, until foamy, place walnuts in a separated bowl divide the dough in 48 equal portions, form into bowls rolling between your palms. Dip each bowl into the egg white and into the walnuts, place in cookie sheet, using the back of a teaspoon or your thumb make a rounded indentation, fill each cookie with jam and bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned in the bottom Remove from the oven allow cookies to cool on baking sheet
