Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c
    butter, softened
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour, unsifted
  • 3/4 c
    hershey's cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    chocolate chips
  • 1 c
    finely chopped nuts (optional)

How to Make The Chewy Chocolate Cookie

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream butter and sugar in large mixing bowl. Add eggs and vanilla; blend well.
  2. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda & salt. Add to butter mixture; stir to blend. Add chocolate chips. Stir in nuts if desired.
  3. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 9 minutes.
  4. Remove cookies from oven and let cool for about 1 minute. Transfer to cooling rack until cooled completely. Enjoy!
  5. Tip: Do not overbake. Cookies will be soft. They will puff during cooking and flatten upon cooling.
