A tasty treat my Aunt Rosie used to bake.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour, unsifted
  • 3/4 cup hershey's cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts (optional)

How To Make the chewy chocolate cookie

  • Step 1
    Cream butter and sugar in large mixing bowl. Add eggs and vanilla; blend well.
  • Step 2
    Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda & salt. Add to butter mixture; stir to blend. Add chocolate chips. Stir in nuts if desired.
  • Step 3
    Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 9 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Remove cookies from oven and let cool for about 1 minute. Transfer to cooling rack until cooled completely. Enjoy!
  • Step 5
    Tip: Do not overbake. Cookies will be soft. They will puff during cooking and flatten upon cooling.
