silvered almonds
2 c
unsalted butter
1 lg
16 0z pkg
powdered sugar
1 tsp
5 c
all purpose flour
1 tsp
baking soda
cloves (optional)

How to Make Tea Cookies


  • 1Pulse
    Almonds in a food processor until finely chopped
  • 2Beat
    Butter at medium speed with heavy duty electric mixer until creamy Add egg beating just until yellow disappears. Gradually add 1 cup powdered sugar, beating at low speed until blended, beat 1 minute Add vanilla and almonds, and beat until blended.
  • 3Combine
    Flour and baking powder, gradually add to butter mixture, beating just until blended after each addition.
  • 4Pinch
    Off 1-inch pieces of dough shape into crescents Insert a clove into each cookie, if desired, place on ungreased baking sheets.
  • 5Bake
    At 350 for 25 minutes, remove to wire racks to cool 30 minutes roll in remaining powdered sugar
  • 6If not using a heavy duty mixer, add 3 cups flour mixture to butter mixture, beating until smooth Knrad n remaining flour until dough is smooth and holds together.
