This recipe came from a good friend who has Swedish in-laws. These are tasty!

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 - eggs separated
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 1/4 cups almonds finely chopped
  • - candied cherries

How To Make swedish tarts

  • Step 1
    preheat oven to 350
  • Step 2
    Mix butter, egg yolk, sugar, flour, extract, and salt until well blended.
  • Step 3
    Shape into 1 inch balls. Roll balls into egg whites until completely covered. Roll egg white covered balls into chopped almonds. Firmly press candied cherry, cut side down, onto cookie.
  • Step 4
    Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 15-20 minutes until cookies start to turn a light golden brown.
