I always use this recipe for my sugar cookies over the holidays with my Sugar Cookie Frosting recipe. They're SO good!

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 - large egg
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
How To Make sugar cookies (betty crocker)

Step 1Beat powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, almond extract and egg in large bowl with mixer on medium speed. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.

Step 2Preheat oven to 375. Lightly grease cookie sheet with shortening or cooking spray.

Step 3Divide dough in half. Roll each half 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut into desired shapes with 2 to 2 1/2-inch cookie cutters. Space about 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.

Step 4Bake 7-8 minutes or until edges are light brown. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely before frosting.
