sugar cookies
This recipe was given to me over 25 years ago from an owner of a local ice cream shop. These cookies are delicious and easy to make. I do not add the lemon extract as I am not a big fan of lemon in my cookies.

Ingredients
- 6 cups flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 cups butter, softened
- 3 cups sugar
- 3 - eggs (beaten)
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon extract (optional)
How To Make sugar cookies

Step 1Preheat oven at 350*

Step 2Sift dry ingredients together.

Step 3Cream shortening and sugar together.

Step 4Blend in eggs, milk and vanilla.

Step 5Blend in dry ingredients.

Step 6Chill in refrigerator for 2 hours.

Step 7Make balls and roll in sugar. Or.... You can also roll out and cut out shapes If you are going to put icing on the cookies, do not roll them in sugar

Step 8Place on baking sheet.

Step 9Bake for 10 minutes. Baking time may vary depending on your oven

Step 10Remove from baking sheet and cool

Step 11Add icing if desired
