This recipe is from my Step Great Grandma-she made them for us many years-then gave my Grandma the recipe-then Grandma gave it to Mama-then on to me.

  • c
    10 cups of flour-self rising
  • c
    2 cups of butter
  • c
    3 cups of sugar
  • ·
    6 eggs
  • Tbsp
    4 tablespoons of good vanilla or half lemon

How to Make Sugar Cookies


  1. Melt Butter
  2. Mix with sugar until creamy
  3. Add eggs one at a time - mix well
  4. Add flavoring
  5. Sift flour into bowl-add the liquid -a mix with a large spoon until most of the flour is used
  6. Turn out onto a large plate and refrigerate for a few minutes
  7. Roll out on floured cloth and cup with cutter in size desired
  8. Bake at 350-400 (depends on your oven) for about 10 minutes
  9. Put on racks to cool
  10. Reroll scrapes seperate and cut out-This will take several rollings to use all the dough-Enjoy and think of the History
