These are the sugar cookies my mother would make when I was a little girl. Still love these tasty treats and are my favorite cookie to this day! Enjoy!

  • 1 c
    margarine, room temp
  • 1 c
    crisco oil
  • 1 c
  • 1 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 4 c
  • 1 tsp
    cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp
  • ·
    granulated sugar for coating balls of cookie dough

How to Make Sugar Cookies


  1. In a large mixing bowl cream together the margarine, oil and sugars. Mix in the vanilla and eggs.
  2. In another large bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. Slowly mix the combined dry ingredients to the creamed mixture adding a cup at a time. Chill for at least 4 hours.
  3. Roll the dough into balls then drop into granulated sugar to coat. Place onto a parchment lined cookie sheet and press down slightly. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.
