This is what I call from "Old Red", sort of my ol' reliable. I'm talking about one of my first cookbooks, Betty Crocker. This recipe has never failed me. Tastes just like what my mom made when we were growing up. Probably is the same recipe. :)

Ingredients
- 1 cup margarine or butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 - egg
How To Make spritz

Step 1Heat oven to 400ºF.

Step 2Mix butter & sugar. Stir in remaining ingredients. Don't overmix.

Step 3PLace dough in cookie press; form desired shaped on ungreased cookie sheet. If desired sprinkle with colored sugars.

Step 4Bake until set but not browned; about 6-9 minutes. Immediately remove to cooling rack.

Step 5I'VE NEVER TRIED THIS PART: CHOCOLATE: Stir 2 ounces melted unsweetened chocolate (cooled) into margarine mixture.
