spiced sugar cookies
Over, Thanksgiving weekend, I intended to bake a traditional sugar cookie, but the recipe called for a teaspoon and a half of vanilla, and I only had a teaspoon of vanilla left in my pantry. I added cinnamon and nutmeg, to compensate for the reduced vanilla flavoring (and a teaspoon of milk, to balance the liquid). The resulting spiced sugar cookies were a big hit with my extended family - so much so that I did a reprise for Christmas.
