'Tis the season for holiday cookie recipes! These spiced cookies have a touch of cocoa, and smell just like home to me. This makes a nice big batch, so it's okay to sneak a few before sharing them with the family :)

Ingredients

1 1/4 c
crisco shortening
1 1/2 c
sugar
3
eggs
1 c
milk
1 tsp
vanilla
5 c
flour
5 tsp
baking powder
1 Tbsp
cinnamon
1 Tbsp
nutmeg
1 Tbsp
all spice
3/4 c
powdered cocoa
1 c
semi-sweet chocolate chips
powdered sugar

How to Make Spiced Cocoa Cookies

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cream shortening and sugar.
  • 2Add eggs (one at a time). Then add milk and vanilla.
  • 3Add dry ingredients and spices. Mix well.
  • 4Add your chocolate chips.
  • 5Form your dough into small balls, (I used a 2 tablespoon coffee scoop)and place onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • 6Bake at 350 for 14 - 16 minutes.
  • 7Remove your cookies from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before adding a sprinkling of powdered sugar!
