'Tis the season for holiday cookie recipes! These spiced cookies have a touch of cocoa, and smell just like home to me. This makes a nice big batch, so it's okay to sneak a few before sharing them with the family :)

  • 1 1/4 c
    crisco shortening
  • 1 1/2 c
  • 3
  • 1 c
  • 1 tsp
  • 5 c
  • 5 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1 Tbsp
    all spice
  • 3/4 c
    powdered cocoa
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ·
    powdered sugar

How to Make Spiced Cocoa Cookies


  1. Cream shortening and sugar.
  2. Add eggs (one at a time). Then add milk and vanilla.
  3. Add dry ingredients and spices. Mix well.
  4. Add your chocolate chips.
  5. Form your dough into small balls, (I used a 2 tablespoon coffee scoop)and place onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake at 350 for 14 - 16 minutes.
  7. Remove your cookies from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before adding a sprinkling of powdered sugar!
