'Tis the season for holiday cookie recipes! These spiced cookies have a touch of cocoa, and smell just like home to me. This makes a nice big batch, so it's okay to sneak a few before sharing them with the family :)

Ingredients For spiced cocoa cookies

  • 1 1/4 c
    crisco shortening
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 3
    eggs
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 5 c
    flour
  • 5 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp
    nutmeg
  • 1 Tbsp
    all spice
  • 3/4 c
    powdered cocoa
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • powdered sugar

How To Make spiced cocoa cookies

    Cream shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs (one at a time). Then add milk and vanilla.

    Add dry ingredients and spices. Mix well.

    Add your chocolate chips.

    Form your dough into small balls, (I used a 2 tablespoon coffee scoop)and place onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

    Bake at 350 for 14 - 16 minutes.

    Remove your cookies from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before adding a sprinkling of powdered sugar!
