A favorite recipe from my Auntie Florence. How many cups of coffee did we share over a plate of these wonderful "dunkers"?

Ingredients

eggs
1 c
sugar
1 c
canola or vegetable oil
3-4 c
flour
1 tsp
soda
1 tsp
cinnamon (scant)
3/4 c
raisins or dates (soaked and chopped)
1 c
walnuts - finely crushed

How to Make Spice Biscotti

Step-by-Step

  • 1Beat the eggs, sugar, and oil together well.
  • 2Combine the flour, soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, 1 cup at a time.
  • 3Drain the raisins/dates and add them, along with the walnuts, to the dough. Mix thoroughly. The dough will be sticky. Oil your hands and make 2 or 3 loaves out of the dough.
  • 4Bake them on a greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Slice the biscotti while they are warm. If you want them to be extra-crispy, place them on their sides and re-bake them for 5-10 minutes more.
