A favorite recipe from my Auntie Florence. How many cups of coffee did we share over a plate of these wonderful "dunkers"?

Ingredients

  • 3
    eggs
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    canola or vegetable oil
  • 3-4 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    soda
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon (scant)
  • 3/4 c
raisins or dates (soaked and chopped)
  • 1 c
    walnuts - finely crushed

How to Make Spice Biscotti

Step-by-Step

  1. Beat the eggs, sugar, and oil together well.
  2. Combine the flour, soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, 1 cup at a time.
  3. Drain the raisins/dates and add them, along with the walnuts, to the dough. Mix thoroughly. The dough will be sticky. Oil your hands and make 2 or 3 loaves out of the dough.
  4. Bake them on a greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Slice the biscotti while they are warm. If you want them to be extra-crispy, place them on their sides and re-bake them for 5-10 minutes more.
