A favorite recipe from my Auntie Florence. How many cups of coffee did we share over a plate of these wonderful "dunkers"?

prep time 15 Min
cook time 25 Min
method Bake
yield 2-3 loaves

Ingredients

  • 3 - eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup canola or vegetable oil
  • 3-4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (scant)
  • 3/4 cup raisins or dates (soaked and chopped)
  • 1 cup walnuts - finely crushed

How To Make spice biscotti

  • Step 1
Beat the eggs, sugar, and oil together well.
  • Step 2
Combine the flour, soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, 1 cup at a time.
  • Step 3
Drain the raisins/dates and add them, along with the walnuts, to the dough. Mix thoroughly. The dough will be sticky. Oil your hands and make 2 or 3 loaves out of the dough.
  • Step 4
Bake them on a greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Slice the biscotti while they are warm. If you want them to be extra-crispy, place them on their sides and re-bake them for 5-10 minutes more.
