These are one of the brownies my Grandma would make for us kids when I was growing up and have made them for years when my children were growing up.

Ingredients

1/2 cup shortening
4 tablespoons (heaping ) tbs. cocoa
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 large eggs
3/4 cup chopped nuts ; optional

How To Make speedy brownies

Step 1

Melt the shortening and the chocolate in a sauce pan over low heat.

Step 2

Stir in the sugar , flour , baking powder , salt and the vanilla.
Step 3

Add the eggs that have been beaten well. Stir in the nuts.
Step 4

Turn into a greased 8x9" pan , place in pre-heated oven and Bake 350° for 25-35 minutes.
