Sour Cream Cookies

I used to be a nanny for two children when i was just about 18. The woman I worked for made these every year for Christmas. When I got out on my own I asked her for the recipe and I have been making them every since! They are a delicious soft cookie with a light flavor and a sweet buttery icing on top!

·1/2 cups crisco

·1 1/2 c sugar

·2 eggs

·1 cup sour cream

·1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

·2 3/4 c flour

·1/2 tsp salt

BUTTERY FROSTING

·1 c powdered sugar

·1/2 cup melted butter

·1 1/4 tsp vanilla

·enough milk or water to get correct consistancy

·a fellow jap member and friend pat duran suggests adding a tsp of karo corn syrup to the frosting to give it that shiny bakery look! i am def giving it a try!

How to Make Sour Cream Cookies
- Mix together sugar and shortening, then add eggs one at a time stirring after each egg.
- Add vanilla and sour cream
- Now stir in your dry ingredients.
- Refrigerate dough for about an hour to make it easier to work with.
- Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake in 375 degree preheated oven for 8-10 minutes
- cool slightly and remove from cookie sheet.
- For icing: Mix sugar butter and vanilla together. Add milk until desired consistancy. Frost each cookie and then top with sprinkles or colored sugar
