Marge & Tim Rhines - We have always like these sugar cookies because if made right they stay soft. I got this recipe from Mary Smock when I baby sat for Dick & Mary's two boys for a couple summers. It was always a favorite. I always use this for cut out Christmas cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup milk

How To Make soft sugar cookies

  • Step 1
    Mix together all ingredients
  • Step 2
These can be rolled or dropped from a spoon and pressed with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. If you roll and cut out, it works best to chill the dough first.
  • Step 3
Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Do not overbake!
