soft sugar cookies
Soft, frosted and great sugar cookies for the holidays or any occasion. Laurie passed this recipe to me and they have been a household favorite for years. The secret is in the cream of tartar. Fun to make with the kids and let them decorate using the sprinkles. Even making a whole batch, you would be hard pressed to find a whole cookie left.

- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 7 1/2 cups flour
- 4 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 2 teaspoons soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
How To Make soft sugar cookies
-
Step 1Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time mixing well in between each. Add vanilla and dry ingredients a bit a time, mixing well in between.
-
Step 2Refrigerate for two hours and remove to warm up. Divide dough in half and roll out on floured board. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes. Cookies need to be just barely brown on the edges. Almost look not done. Cool, frost with butter cream frosting and serve!
