This is a favorite that I never think to make as often as I should. These cookies will stay soft and freeze well.

1 stick
margerine or butter
1/2 c
butter flavor shortening
1 1/2 c
2 3/4 c
all purpose flour
2 tsp
cream of tartar
1 tsp
baking soda
1/4 tsp
3 Tbsp
3 tsp

How to Make Soft Snickerdoodle Cookies


  • 1preheat oven to 350
  • 2Mix butter, 1 1/2 c.sugar and eggs thoroughly in large bowl until fluffly.
  • 3Combine flour, cream of tarter,baking soda, and salt in seperate bowl.
  • 4Blend dry ingredients into butter mixture, just until well combined don't over beat.
  • 5Chill dough,and baking sheets for 10-15 min.
  • 6Combine 3 Tbs. sugar and 3tsp. cinnamon in small bowl.
  • 7Scoop 1" balls of dough into sugar mixture and gently roll to coat balls
  • 8Place balls on ungreased chilled baking sheets and bake 9-10 min.
  • 9Remove from sheet immediately on to cooling racks
