This is a really good old fashioned tasting cookie that I hope you'll try and add it to your holiday cookie trays.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger (optional)

How To Make soft molasses cookies

  • Step 1
    Cream together the shortening and sugar. Add the well beaten eggs,molasses,and sour cream and stir the mixture until it is smooth.
  • Step 2
    Mix together the dry ingredients and add this mixture gradually to the first. Chill the dough for about an hour, then drop it by spoonfuls (I use a small ice cream scoop) on a greased baking sheet.
  • Step 3
    Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
