There are so many things I love about these cookies! I love the crackled tops and I love that they're a soft cookie and I love the ginger bread flavor! This is just one of my favorite cookies! I've made them many times! I got this recipe from a foodie named Michellem but I changed it to suit my own tastes.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter-softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves

How To Make soft ginger bread cookies

  • Step 1
Combine butter, sugar, molasses, egg and vanilla...beat well.
  • Step 2
Combine dry ingredients and add to above mixture a little at a time to form a firm dough. You may not need the entire amount.
  • Step 3
Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place on parchment lined cookie sheets. Press down slightly to form into a disk.
  • Step 4
Bake at 350* for 8-10 min.
  • Step 5
I always double this recipe because they go so fast!
  • Step 6
These cookies do not taste good warm. I always wait til they're fully cooled to eat them.
