  • 2/3 cup butter--softened
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar--packed
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups flour--all purpose
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar (for icing)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • 1/4 cup butter--softened (for icing)

How To Make soft brown sugar cookies

  • Step 1
    CAKE: BLEND TOGETHER BUTTER & BROWN SUGAR. ADD EGGS, 1 AT A TIME, BLEND WELL. ADD VANILLA, BEAT UNTIL LIGHT.
  • Step 2
    IN SEPARATE BOWL, STIR TOGETHER FLOUR, BAKING POWDER, BAKING SODA & SALT. ADD FLOUR MIXTURE TO BUTTER MIXTURE, ALTERNATING WITH SOUR CREAM, MIX WELL
  • Step 3
    DROP BY ROUNDED TABLESPOONS ONTO NON STICK OR LIGHTLY GREASED BAKING SHEETS. BAKE 350 DEGREES-------8 MINS.
  • Step 4
    REMOVE FROM OVEN TO COOL FROST WITH BROWNED BUTTER FROSTING
  • Step 5
    BROWN BUTTER FROSTING: 1/4C BUTTER 1 1/2 C CONFECTIONERS SUGAR 2 T MILK MELT BUTTER IN PAN OVER MEDIUM HEAT UNTIL IT TURNS GOLDEN. WATCH CAREFULLY AS THIS WILL HAPPEN QUICKLY. REMOVE FROM HEAT. STIR IN CONFECTIONER'S SUGAR & ENOUGH MILK TO MAKE A SPREADING CONSISTENCY.
