amanda's butter cookies

I got this recipe from my aunt who makes these great cookies every year for Christmas. I like giving these out to friends and family on a cookie plate for the holidays. Making them into different colors makes it even better! Great for anytime of the year!

Makes approx. 3 dozen
Ingredients
- 2 cups butter, not margerine
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- - nuts optional
How To Make amanda's butter cookies

Step 1Make sure your butter is at room temperature, or its too hard to mix. Cream all ingredients into large bowl and until fluffy. Your may need to use your hands to mix the batter because it will become hard to mix. Chill for atleast 2hrs.

Step 2Spoon out dough into teaspoon size and roll into a ball, and then roll into sprinkles or colored sugar of our choice for decoration.

Step 3Bake at 350 degrees for approx. 20 minutes. Cool on cooling rack.
