Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 2 3/4 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    cream of tartar
  • 2 Tbsp
    cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar

How to Make Snickerdoodles

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix thoroughly the shortening, butter, sugar and eggs.
  2. Stir in flour, soda, salt and cream of tartar. Chill.
  3. Then roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in the mixture of 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon.
  4. Place 2" apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes until lightly brown but still soft in a 400° oven. Makes 5 dozen.
