Ingredients

  • 3 cups unbleached white flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • TOPPING
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnnamon

How To Make snickerdoodles

  • Step 1
    In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt
  • Step 2
    Place sugar and butter in mixer bowl. Beat at medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time and vanilla (scraping sides of bowl as needed). Reduce speed to stir and mix flour mixture, in 3 additions. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour until firm. Preheat oven to 375
  • Step 3
    Form balls of dough about the size of a walnut. Roll in cinnamon sugar to coat (topping). Place 2 1/2 inches apart on prepared baking sheet. Bake in the middle of preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until puffed and slightly cracked. Let cool on sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely
