yield Makes 2 1/2 doz.

Ingredients

1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 - egg
1 3/8 - sifted flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

How To Make snicker doodles

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Step 2

Mix together the shortening, sugar and egg
Step 3

Sift together and stir in the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt.
Step 4

Chill in refrigerator. Roll into balls the size of walnuts and roll into a mixture of 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon.
Step 5

Place 2" apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 mins.
Step 6

NOTE: Do not over bake. Cookies are very soft almost like custard when taken out of the oven.
