Grandma W named 'Slices' cookies that are similar to biscotti, in that you cook the first time, then slice and cook again. This is her hazelnut version.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 3 tablespoons baking soda
  • 2/3 cup hazelnuts
  • 1 2/3 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons brandy
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup sugar

How To Make slices, brandied hazelnuts, grandma w

  • Step 1
    Boil water and soda, add nuts and boil 3-5 min. or until water turns black and skins can be peeled off. Put in colander and run cold water over until cool enough to remove the skins. Pat dry then toast about 5 min. Chop when cool. Combine with remaining ingredients, bake at 300 degrees 35 min. Cool and slice then bake 10-15 min more
