My great-grandparents moved from KY to NC in 1963. When they moved down here, they began attending the Holiness church. Mrs. Dorothy Jennings gave this recipe to my Granny in the 1970's. It is very good and a good gift for a Christmas Cookie swap.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 package chopped dates
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups rice krispie cereal
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- - coconut, powdered sugar or regular sugar
- 1 - egg
How To Make skillet cookies

Step 1Melt margarine over low heat. Combine sugar and egg well. Add to margarine. Gradually cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, to keep from burning. Add vanilla. Pour over rice cereal and chopped pecans. Let cool until lukewarm. Roll into 1 inch balls and then into coconut.
