My friend, Rod, made the best shortbread cookies I had ever tasted. He is a chef. He shared his recipe with me! Yeah!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 pound butter
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

How To Make shortbread cookies

  • Step 1
    Cream butter and confectioners sugar together until light in color. Add flour and salt. Add vanilla and blend thoroughly.
  • Step 2
    On lightly floured surface roll out dough approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. (thickness depends on preference)
  • Step 3
    Cut dough into shapes with cookie cutters. Place on baking sheet. Sprinkle with granulated sugar. Place cut cookies on cookie sheet in refrigerator or freezer for 7-10 minutes. Preheat oven to 340* degrees. Bake directly from cold storage for approximately 18 minutes. Cookies should NOT be brown on top. Cooking time may vary depending on thickness of dough.
