This is a fantastic recipe for homemade shortbread. It is buttery and delicious and will look great on your Christmas cookie trays! It is one of those recipes that tastes like you put in a lot more effort than you did. Enjoy!!

Ingredients
- 4 sticks butter
- 4 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
How To Make shortbread

Step 1preheat oven to 275.

Step 2put sugar in a large bowl and add vanilla. whisk together.

Step 3add salt and flour.

Step 4cut butter into large chunks and work into flour about a stick at a time. knead until crumbly and the butter is blended in. It is ok to do this with your hands!

Step 5Press dough into two lightly buttered pans.I use the pyrex pans that are slightly smaller than 9x13. **IMPORTANT*** poke dough all over with a fork. Cover the dough with the fork holes or you will not be able to get cookies out of the pan once they are baked!!

Step 6Bake at 275 for 1-1/2 hours. After an hour, start to watch carefully. Do not let shortbread get too brown. Average oven time is an hour and 10 minutes but time does vary. remove when they area light golden brown.
