  • 4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1 c
  • 1 c
    vegetable shortening
  • 2
    eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 c
    whole milk
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 c
    white sesame seeds (amount approximated)

How to Make Aunt Pearl's Sesame Seed Cookies (Giuggiulena)


  1. Preheat oven to 375. Line baking sheets with parchment.
  2. Mix everything *except sesame seeds*.
  3. Roll into small balls. Roll balls in sesame seeds and then roll balls into finger size.
  4. Bake for about 20-25 minutes. Watch carefully so the bottoms don't burn.
