I remember going to the Italian bakery for these cookies until my grandmother taught me how to make them. Big request in our family for these.

Ingredients

  • 3 c
    flour
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 stick
    unsalted butter, cut into bits and softened
  • 1/4 c
    crisco shortening-softened
  • 2 large
    eggs-beaten lightly
  • 1/4 c
    milk--also have milk on side for dipping
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 3/4 c
    sesame seeds

How to Make Sesame Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. preheat oven to 375
  2. mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt
  3. blend in butter and shortening until mix is coarse.
  4. add eggs, milk and vanilla blend until soft dough forms.
  5. divide into 36 piesces and form into 3" logs
  6. dip into milk and roll in sesame seeds
  7. bake 1" apart for 20-25 minutes until golden brown
