This is Scotland's National cookie which is served on Hogmany which is Dec 31st before bringing in New Year

Ingredients For scottish shortbread

  • 1/2 lb
    butter, softened
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 5 Tbsp
    farina
  • 5/2 c
    flour

How To Make scottish shortbread

    Mix first two ingredients
  • 2
    Add Farina and gradually add flour
  • 3
    Knead dough till firm and roll into a ball and cut ball into four equal parts and roll each into logs.

    Slice each log into 8 rounds
  • 5
    Place on buttered cookie sheet 2" apart and pierce on top of cookie with fork a couple of times

    Preheat oven 250 degrees - 300 degrees and bake until slightly colored, est. 30 minutes.

    Cool on a wire rack and sprinkle with sugar during cooling period
