This recipe for delicious shortbread is unbelievably easy. I searched the internet and found this on another recipe site, but it's the best shortbread I have ever tasted. I hope you all enjoy it as much as my family and I do.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    unsalted butter (4 sticks)
  • 1 c
    white sugar
  • 4 1/2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch
    salt

How to Make Scottish Shortbread

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 f
  2. Cream butter and sugar with a mixer.
  3. Add flour and salt and mix with a wooden spoon. Use hands to make sure all the ingredients are incorporated.
  4. Press dough into an ungreased 10x15 inch jelly roll pan. Prick all over with a fork, making sure the fork hits the pan and the pricks are close together. Sprinkle liberally with sugar.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 f. Reduce heat to 300 f, and bake for approximately 40 minutes more.
  6. Cool in pan for 5 minutes, then cut into finger sized bars. Allow to cool completely before removing.
