scotch shortbread cookies

This was my great grandmother Nita's recipe (born 1892) and her mothers before her/ 5th generation recipe. Simple Ingredients and easy instructions for over 100 years.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups ap flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 pinch kosher salt

How To Make scotch shortbread cookies

  • Step 1
    Cream Butter, adding sugar gradually
  • Step 2
    Stir in flour, mix with hands, chill for 1/2 hour
  • Step 3
    Roll out about 1/4 inch thing and cut into shapes. Prick with fork. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 300 degree oven for 25 to 27 minutes- or until edges of shortbread are slightly brown.
