salted chocolate chip cookies

Inspired by watching too many cooking shows on TV, these are great with coffee or a big glass of milk.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • - sea salt or fleur de sel

How To Make salted chocolate chip cookies

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly butter 2 baking sheets or line with parchment paper. Sift dry ingredients together and set aside.
  • Step 2
    Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
  • Step 3
    Blend in egg and vanilla with a spoon.
  • Step 4
    Add flour mixture.
  • Step 5
    Add chocolate chips and pecans if using them.
  • Step 6
    Scoop balls of dough about walnut-size and place on cookie sheets about an inch apart. They will spread. Sprinkle a few flakes of salt on top of each cookie.
  • Step 7
    Bake 10 - 14 minutes until golden around the edges. Cookies should still be softish in the center. Remove from the baking sheet and allow to cool on the rack.
  • Step 8
    Baking time will vary depending on size of cookies. Watch and test every couple minutes until ready.
