These are the perfect tea cookie and great for gift giving. I used to include them in my Christmas baking to give as gifts. I haven't baked for gifts in years. I may have to do that again now that I found some of my old cookie recipes! Hope you enjoy! Note: The long prep time is due to chilling the dough before baking. Minus the chill time, these are super fast and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup soft butter
  • 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped nuts

How To Make russian tea cakes

  • Step 1
    Mix sugar, butter and vanilla thoroughly. Blend flour and salt in seperate bowl. Add to creamed mixture. Mix in nuts. Chill.
  • Step 2
    When dough is cold, roll into 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes at 400 degrees. While still warm, roll in powdered sugar. Cool. Roll in powdered sugar again.
