I submitted this recipe in our family cookbook about 30 years ago. These cookies were among some of my earliest recipes that I baked.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 cups all purpose flour, sifted
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
How To Make refrigerator cookies

Step 1Cream butter and sugars together; Add egg.

Step 2Add remaining ingredients to flour, then Add to sugar mixture.

Step 3Form in rolls, Wrap in waxed paper and Chill (8 hours or overnight until firm).

Step 4Slice and Bake in 400 degree oven until light brown.
