1 tspbaking soda

1 1/2 tspbaking powder

2 Tbspcocoa powder

1/2 tspsalt

2eggs
-
1 1/2 csugar

1/2 cvegetable oil

1 1/2 tspvanilla

1 cbuttermilk

8drops red food coloring

1/2 cbutter

1/4 ccrisco
-
5 Tbsphalf & half

3 1/2 cpowdered sugar

1 tspvanilla

2 Tbspturbinado sugar
How To Make red velvet whoopie pies

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa, and salt together.

3In a mixing bowl, add eggs and sugar. Beat until well combined, batter should be a pale yellow, about three minutes. Add in oil and vanilla. Beat until combined.

4Gradually add in flour and buttermilk mixture. Add about one cup flour mix, then half a cup buttermilk. Blend. Repeat this process until everything is added.

5Drop tbsp size dollops on a cookie sheet and bake for 11 minutes. Let cookies cool, then smear icing on one side of a cookie and press together with another cookie to form whoopie pies.

6Prepare icing by creaming crisco and butter. Add in powdered sugar and half & half. Once combined, add vanilla and turbinado sugar. Smear onto cookies.
