Received this recipe from my Grandma one of the first her and I made together. When making these she didn't use a mixer but I do.

butter or margarine softened
1/2 c
3 1/2 c
1 tsp
baking soda
2 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
1 tsp


1 c
seedless raisins
1/2 c
water or orange juice
1 tsp
lemon juice
1/2 c
walnuts or pecans
1 c
1/4 tsp
1 1/2 c

How to Make Raisin Filled Cookies


  • 1Directions for filling mixture: Combine all ingredients and cook. Stirring over medium heat until thick. Cool before using.
  • 2Blend sugar, butter and eggs until smooth.
  • 3Add dry ingredients which have been sifted together, alternate with the milk.
  • 4Mix thoroughly and roll out thinly on floured board cut into rounds with a 3" cookie cutter. I take my thumb and make an indent. Put 1 teas filling on each cookie and place another round on top. Crimp edges together. Make small vents.
  • 5Bake in 375 degree oven about 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
