I enjoy collecting old cookbooks, this recipe came from my latest treasure Searchlight Recipe Book copyrighted in 1931. I have made several recipes from this book and we have enjoyed everyone.

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
3 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons catsup
1/2 teaspoon baking-soda
1 cup chopped raisins
1 - egg

How To Make raisin catsup cookies

Step 1

Cream Shortening and sugar. Add catsup and unbeaten egg. Beat thoroughly. Add raisins. Sift flour, measure and swift with baking-soda and salt. Add to first mixture. Mix thoroughly. Turn onto lightly floured board. Knead thoroughly. Form into roll 2 inches in diameter. place in wax paper and chill overnight. Cut into thin slices and bake in hot oven 410F about 10 minutes. 24 servings.
