My lifelong friend Madeline gave me this recipe. Her family is Italien and her two aunts would make these every Christmas & Easter with an iron that you held on the stove. Making 1 at a time. They are the best I've tasted.

Ingredients
- 6 - eggs
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter (you can use margarine but i prefer the butter)
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons anise flavoring. i do not use imitation flavoring but real extract. i get it on line.
How To Make pizzelles

Step 1Beat egg. melt butter but don't add to eggs yet. Let it cool first. Add sugar gradually, beat till smooth. Add cooled butter Anise flavoring.

Step 2Sift flour, baking powder. Add egg mixture, dough will be sticky. Pizzelle iron must be hot enough or it will definitely stick. I use 1 rounded tbsp. of mixture in center of each design on iron. I usually take them off after about1 minute. Be careful and watch them because they will brown fast. Yield: 6 or 7 dozen
