This was passed down by my paternal grandmother. She made them to be given as Christmas gifts.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ripe persimmon pulp sprinkled with
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups margarine or shortening or half of each
  • 2 - beaten eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup choppped dates
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg

How To Make persimmon cookies

  • Step 1
    Cream sugar and shortening; add persimmon pulp. Beat well; add beaten eggs. Add flour and spices, nuts, raisins and dates.
  • Step 2
    Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet.
  • Step 3
    Bake at 375 degrees 12 to 15 minutes.
