perfect chocolate cookie

Not sure where I originally found this recipe but it has been a staple in my household. Whenever we're in the mood for cookies I whip these up. They're very easy, bake quickly, and composed of ingredients that you likely already have on hand.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • - splash of milk
  • - milk and/or white chocolate bars not chips

How To Make perfect chocolate cookie

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees (F).
  • Step 2
    Dice up the chocolate bars into smaller pieces. Set aside.
  • Step 3
    Mix butter and sugar. Add the egg. Mix well. Add in all dry ingredients & mix. This should be a really thick sticky batter. Add a dash of milk, to thin it out ever so slightly. Add in all the chocolate pieces, and stir to incorporate.
  • Step 4
    Roll cookies into balls and place on a parchment lined cookie sheet. These cookies are meant to be big, but you can make them any size you'd like.
  • Step 5
    Bake for EXACTLY 11 minutes. Baking time is crucial for this recipe. Note: They will not look done when you take them out. Remove from oven and allow to cool sufficiently. If the cookies are not properly cooled they will fall apart.
