this is a tasty version of pecan pie made into bars...my family loves these any time of the year!

Ingredients

  • 1 package pudding included butter cake mix
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 - egg
  • 36 - caramels
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 - eggs,beaten
  • 2 cups pecan halves

How To Make pecan pie bars

  • Step 1
    BASE:
  • Step 2
    heat oven to 350F-grease a 13x9" pan-reserve 3/4 dry cake mix for filling
  • Step 3
    in a large bowl combine remaining cake mix, 1/3 cup butter & one egg at low speed until well blended- spread in prepared pan-bake at 350 degrees for 15 - 20 minutes or until light golden brown

    Filling:

    melt caramels, water and 1/4 cup butter in a sauce pan over a low heat-stir occasionally until smooth
  • Step 6
    combine sugar, vanilla, 3 eggs & remaining cake mix-gradually fold sauce & mix well-stir in pecans-pour into base-return to oven & bake for 40 minutes-cool completely-cut into bars-store in refrigerator
