I have never liked cookies made with shortening (funny my mother in law and I were just discussing this at lunch today, and she remembers her mother using lard...times change, don't they?), but these are pretty darn good! I might attempt to make them with butter instead, just to see how they turn out!

Ingredients
- 1 cup sifted flour
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 - egg, beaten
- 1/3 cup pecans, chopped

Step 1Sift flour with cream of tartar. Cream shortening, add sugar. Add egg and mix. Add dry ingredients then nuts. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheets and bake at 300 degrees 12-14 minutes.
