  • 1 c
  • 1 c
  • 1 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 2/3 c
    peanut butter
  • 2 large
  • 1/3 c
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 c
    quick cooking oats
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp

  • 1/3 c
    butter, softened
  • 2/3 c
    peanut butter
  • 2 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 1/3 c

How to Make Peanut Butter Squares


  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream sugars, shortening and peanut butter.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Add water and vanilla; mix well.
  4. Combine the dry ingredients and then mix wet and dry ingredients until combined.
  5. Pour into a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1in. baking pan.
  6. Bake at 325 for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  7. In a small mixing bowl, beat the icing ingredients until smooth. Pour over warm bars. Cool.
